Last Saturday 13 August, 2016 saw the graduation run of our newest members who’ve just come through our ever-popular ‘Learn to Run’ program. The recruits had a great time running their first non-stop 5km at Panania parkrun and enjoyed a celebration awards breakfast afterwards. Congratulations to them all!
This program has been running successfully since 2013 and has seen many, many people whom thought they could never run, train hard and able to call themselves runners by the end of the 12 weeks.
Along the way, participants often doubt themselves, but with constant reassurance from our run leaders and support from others who’ve completed the program before, they succeed. As I always say to my groups “Think only about the session and week in hand, not the end goal or you will overwhelm yourself. Trust the program and those who’ve been successful before you, and of course commit yourself to the runs. If you do the right thing; attend sessions and complete your homework runs you will see that we can all do hard things”.
This program could not have been run to date without the support from some fantastic businesses whom provide for a us in a variety of ways, so thank you to all of them from Team Rachel’s Runners…
We look forward to welcoming some new runners on board when we start up our 12 week Learn to Run program again on Saturday 24 September, 2016. This program will run in two South West Sydney locations this time – Milperra and West Hoxton. If you are keen to join us or find out more, please email info@rachelsrunners.com or register your interest in the event on our Facebook page.
