Karina joined Rachel’s Runners earlier this year with a goal of running her first half marathon. Since achieving this at Blackmores Sydney Running Festival in September, she now has her sights set on a Half Marathon Hat Trick before 2018 is out! Meet Karina…
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a 33 year old mother of two children aged 5 and 2. My husband and I own a garage door business. I have always enjoyed exercise; especially running.
Tell us a bit about you and running – How? When? Why?
I love to just head out and run with my music on and leave all my stresses behind. I enjoy the peace and quiet when running. With such a busy life, sometimes I do struggle to fit training in. I try to run 3 times per week, plus a swim session and a weights session. Earlier this year I decided to do my first half marathon which I have now completed and I have 2 more planned before the end of the year!
What’s the best thing about running for you?
Getting away from the stresses in life and having time for me.
What’s your favourite piece of running equipment?
My head phones!
What’s your biggest challenge with running?
The first 5km is always the hardest.
Any tips for fellow runners?
Just make a time; even 30 minutes, to get out and start running.
