A relative new-comer to Rachel’s Runners, but definitely not one to shy away from a challenge, you can find this champion on the trails or road getting through his weekly sessions like a pro. He’s got some big goals in his sights including UTA50 and Six Foot Track and we certainly can’t wait to cheer him on! Meet Dan…
Tell us a bit about yourself.
Early 40’s film buff, video game junkie and ex-soft drink addict who now gets off his butt for fun.
Tell us a bit about you and running – How? When? Why?
I started running in 2018. I had lost a fair few kilo’s and had started walking. I signed up to Stadium Stomp on a whim to join a mate in the adventure, and figured I need some stairs training. On the first session, I decided to run to the stairs, and turned around halfway there and realised I had left everyone behind, and it was fun running. It took off from there.
What’s the best thing about running for you?
I get to buy cool shoes and gadgets. It is a good way to get out of your own head, but the first steps to get out the door are the toughest – even to this day.
What’s your favourite piece of running equipment?
My Garmin watch. It has so many stats!!!!!
What’s your biggest challenge with running?
Getting out the door in the first place, and keeping motivated when social distancing is in force.
If you could invent a running or fitness tool or toy what would it be?
A colour changing device, so I could make all my running shoes red.
Any tips for fellow runners?
Just keep on trying. If at first you don’t succeed, give it another crack. There is no such thing as a bad run, but there are fantastic runs which you keep coming back for.
